Fix Your Car Bumper

Before getting started, it’s wise to get in touch with our Deer Park experts if your damage seems more serious than is possible to repair at home. Car bumper repair costs can range from $50 for a few materials to do it yourself, or up to $1,500 if the damage affects lights, proximity sensors, or cameras found on new vehicles. With damage limited to dents, cracks, or paint scratches, see below for how to DIY these mishaps.

Dents

To fix car bumper dents, you’ll need these following tools: a heat gun, a pry bar, a jack, jack stands, safety glasses, and gloves. To begin the dent removal process, safely jack up your car and remove the splash guards if necessary. Warm the dented area with your heat gun. While warm, use the prybar to apply pressure to the dent from the inside out. Apply pressure to the deepest part of the dent first, and work through its shape evenly until the dent is less apparent or completely gone.

Paint Scratches

If you just barely tapped the vehicle in front of you, but you have the scratches to show for it, don’t worry too much! With a buffing compound, a drill, and a touch-up pen, you’ll be driving around Pearland scratch-free with ease.

First, clean the area well and remove any surface imperfections. Run your fingernail over the scratch to determine how deep it is, and then buff it with your drill attachment. You’ll also want to add a layer of clear coat to help blend the paint and to protect it from further damage. Let that dry and paint with your touch-up pen. You’ve learned how to remove scratches from a car bumper!

Cracks

To fix a crack in your bumper, you may want to bring your vehicle to our Houston service center. After all, it’s a more extensive and technical repair process, which requires more materials.

If you feel prepared to address a fiberglass repair via tutorials, or if you have a knowledge of fiberglass repair, this can be a straightforward fix. You’ll just need use a fiberglass repair kit and take the necessary steps outlined in the box.
